Dan Tawfik, a leading protein biochemist known for his work on enzyme evolution, recently passed away in tragic climbing accident. In addition to many other activities, served the Editorial Board of The FEBS Journal years. This issue contains an obituary written by Amir Aharoni and Sarel Fleishman.
